Hamburger SV is one of the largest clubs in Germany. The news ticker on t-online contains all the important reports about the “Rothosen”.
The HSV doesn’t play until Saturday in Freiburg (3:30 p.m.), but numerous fans have already made the journey south. Because the railway stopped all long-distance traffic in the north as a result of the storm “Elli”, some fans were stranded in Hanover.
This didn’t dampen her good mood. They were well fed on the train, “with the on-board bistro and the crate of beer we have with us – or several crates of beer,” one of the fans told dpa. They hoped that they would “somehow get to Freiburg. Even if it was midnight sometime.”

As expected, substitute goalkeeper Daniel Peretz is leaving HSV after just six months. The club announced the departure on its channels on Thursday afternoon: “The 25-year-old’s loan contract, which would originally have run until the end of the current 2025/26 season, has been terminated accordingly.”
In the second half of the season, Peretz played for the English second division club FC Southampton, where FC Bayern Munich immediately loaned him out. The Israeli was in goal for HSV twice in the DFB Cup, but he did not make any appearances in the Bundesliga.
The Hamburger SV has introduced its first new signing for the second half of the season: Damion Downs is now strengthening the attack. The 21-year-old German-American is moving to the Elbe from English second division club FC Southampton on a six-month loan deal and will wear the number 19 on his shirt.
Sports director Claus Costa highlighted the striker’s profile: “Damion is a vertical center forward who has a good mix of size, speed and depth.” With his presence in the penalty area and his qualities in the transition game, Downs fits well into HSV’s requirements profile.
The US youth international was trained at 1. FC Köln. In the 2023/24 season he gained his first Bundesliga experience there (ten appearances, two goals). Previously, Downs played a key role in the “Effzeh”‘s promotion to the Bundesliga with ten goals and five assists. He then moved to England for around eight million euros.
