From 10 March, employers can apply for a subsidy to train (new) employees for a new or next job in a socially crucial sector. Think of healthcare, childcare or technology. Up to and including 2027 there is more than € 73 million available for this training subsidy.

Employers are reimbursed for part of the training costs that they have incurred for training new or current employees. It is about practical training in which people work and learn at the same time. The percentage that employers are reimbursed depends on the level of the training to be followed. With this subsidy, the government wants to use money more targeted to tackle the deficits in these sectors and contribute to sustainable employability of (new) staff.

For whom?

The training subsidy is intended for employers. Later this year, partnerships of employers ‘and employees’ organizations and/or O&O funds with labor market regions and provinces can also apply for this subsidy as a collective.

Part of Development Path

The subsidy is for training that are part of a so -called development path for a socially crucial sector. The first twelve development paths were determined by the sectors themselves and recognized by the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment. These belong to the care and welfare sectors, childcare, gardeners and landscaping and technology, construction and energy.

In a development path you can see which functions there are in a sector and which training courses train for these functions. This way you can see how you can enter and move on in a sector or switch between sectors. In the course of the year there will be even more development paths, for education and IT, among others.
You can find the recognized development paths on Rijksoverheid.nl/delpaden.

This training subsidy is a new part of the Smart.
