At Sky she regularly analyzes the top games in the men’s Bundesliga. Now Julia Simic should also help the Swiss women’s national team.
Former German international Julia Simic is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt to become assistant coach of the Swiss women’s national team. This was announced by the Hessians and the Swiss Football Association. The 36-year-old was most recently head coach of the U20 women in Frankfurt, who play in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Simic came to Eintracht in the summer of 2023, initially as an assistant coach alongside Friederike Kromp. When Kromp moved to SV Werder Bremen in the women’s Bundesliga this summer, Simic took over the position of head coach of the U20.
During her active career, Simic played in the Bundesliga for, among others, FC Bayern Munich, Turbine Potsdam, VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg, winning several national titles – the DFB Cup four times and the German championship once.
She gained international experience at West Ham United before ending her professional career at AC Milan. Since then she has worked as a trainer and TV expert for the TV channel Sky, where she works together with Lothar Matthäus at the top games.
“Julia has a lot of international experience and a modern understanding of the game. She will be very good for our team, both physically and personally, and we look forward to taking the next steps together with her,” says Swiss national coach Rafel Navarro about the reinforcements.
The Swiss association is also continuing the collaboration with Nadine Angerer, which was originally planned until the end of 2025. The former DFB goalkeeper has been the goalkeeper coach of the Swiss women’s national team since March 2024.
