The Italian skiing federation Fisi has announced this.
Franzoso fell heavily on Saturday, three days before his 26th birthday, during a jump, broke two progress and bumped into a fence. After admission to a hospital in Santiago, he was brought into an artificial coma. However, doctors could not save the life of the skier.
“This is a tragedy for his family and for our sport,” said Flavio Roda, the chairman of Fisi in the statement.
Franzoso participated for the first time in a World Cup competition in December 2021. Since then he came into action seventeen times in those competitions, in the descent and on the super-g. Franzoso finished twice in the top 30. Together with the other Italian skiers, including Dominik Paris, he prepared for the new season in the Chilean ski area La Parva.
