Three weeks before the World Cup start, ÖSV athlete Katharina Liensberger can already have a first success. The preparation time does not only use them on skis.

Before the new World Ski World Cup season begins in Sölden, Katharina Liensberger celebrated a success and took a remarkable step away from racing. The 28-year-old studied sports management at the University of St. Gallen and acquired a certificate there that gives her an insight into the economic structures of top sports.

The program comprised 18 presence days, distributed over four months, and cost around 16,000 euros. In a short time, the participants were given basic knowledge in the field of sports organization and leadership. The teachers also included well-known names such as Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Leverkusen’s sports director Simon Rolfes.

For Liensberger it was an experience that has meaning beyond their active career. She wrote on Instagram: “This trip offered valuable insights into sports management and an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth beyond sport. As a professional ski racer, this program gave me a deeper understanding of the world of sport beyond the competition. I am very grateful for the knowledge, friendships and the inspiration that I will take with me.”

The world champion of 2021 was also able to set an exclamation mark on the slopes. In the South America Cup in early September, she drove to third place in the South America Cup in the South America Cup. This result indicates that it is also prepared for the coming season.
