Formula 1 expert Ralf Schumacher sees the World Cup train for defending champion Max Verstappen six Grands Prix still not drove before the end of the season despite a big deficit.

Max Verstappen landed at the Grand Prix of Singapore on Sunday before Lando Norris (P3) and Oscar Piatri (P4), but the Dutch, as a second-placed, missed it to significantly increase the pressure on the McLaren duo. George Russell grabbed the victory in Mercedes.

And so Verstappen is currently still 63 points behind leaders Piatri in the driver’s ranking. Norris is also 41 points in front of the Red Bull superstar. Only six races and three sprints remain a big catch -up.

Formula 1 expert Ralf Schumacher does not want to finally write off Verstappen.

“The chance is always there,” said the TV expert after the Singapore race on Sunday at “Sky”. Schumacher justified: “A failure can always happen, everything can happen.”

At the moment it is “a little Silly Season. McLaren has lost the lead for the time being, but it can be different in the next race. In the next races you will see a tendency. If Max can continue to score in front of McLaren, there will be a chance. If not, it will soon be over,” the 50-year-old ordered.

Verstappen speaks of difficult races

“The race was quite difficult, much more difficult than I was hoping,” summed up Verstappen even after his second place on Sunday: “Even if you have more pace here, you can’t overtake without something crazy.”

An important decision has already been made in Formula 1. McLaren secured the world of constructors in the premier class of motorsport prematurely. The racing team repeated its success from the previous year.
