Just a few weeks ago, Lindsey Vonn returned to competitive sports. But she already knows when it will end again.

Ski star Lindsey Vonn would like to end her sporting career for the second time after the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo at the latest. The 40-year-old told the AP: “I would never do it beyond that. It would be a great way to end things once and for all.” The decision to work towards the Olympics in her second athletic career seems to be a clear goal for the American.

After a nearly six-year break, Vonn recently made an impressive comeback to the World Cup. Despite a partial knee prosthesis, she showed strong performances: In St. Anton she came sixth in the downhill and fourth in the Super-G. The two-time world champion and 2010 Olympic champion demonstrated that she can compete at the highest level even after a long break from competition.

At the current World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo, on one of her favorite routes, she fell during training. However, Vonn gave the all-clear and only spoke of a few scratches and no serious injuries. Observers even believe she can achieve a podium finish in this weekend’s races.

Since her return in the fall, there has been repeated speculation as to whether she can end her career with one last major appearance at the 2026 Olympic Games. Now Vonn made his statement clear about this goal: “I’m definitely thinking about it and hope I can get there.”
