Ski racer Schmid ends his career

Ski racer Manuel Schmid ends his career. The 30-year-old downhiller, brother of world champion Alexander Schmid (28), announced this on Instagram on Tuesday.

Schmid was repeatedly thrown back by injuries during his time in the World Cup. “I love downhill skiing,” he wrote, and the decision was “very, very difficult” for him.

But he had to realize that he “physically just couldn’t give 100 percent anymore”. However, he wants to stay true to skiing, said the 2019 World Cup participant, who competed in 37 World Cup races.
