Who are the favourites?

The role of top favorite is clearly assigned this year. Under his new coach Thomas Thurnbichler, Dawid Kubacki is in excellent form and has won four of the eight previous individual competitions. Besides him, the Slovenian Anze Lanisek, Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway and Piotr Żyła as the second Pole can be found among the narrower circle of favourites. Meanwhile, Ryoyu Kobayashi, who has already won the tour twice, is considered an outsider as he and the entire Japanese team are struggling with form.

Only 50 progress

As usual in the qualification, there will be a sifting out again today and only the top 50 of the elimination round will be allowed to participate in tomorrow’s competition day. There is additional excitement on the tour due to the mode of knockout duels. The weakest athlete in the qualification will have to compete against the strongest jumper for his place in the final tomorrow, the second meets the 49th and so on.
