There series starring Dominique Devenport is centered on the figure of Duchess Elisabeth of Bavaria better known as the Empress Sisi. In particular, on the love that bound her toEmperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, played by Jannik Schümann.

Elisabeth Amalia Eugenie of Wittelsbach was born and raised in Possenhofernon Lake Starnberg in Bavaria. She is the daughter of Duchess Ludovica (Julia Stemberger) and Duke Max (Marcus Grüsser). The stay in Bad Ischl continues with the ball organized in honor of the emperor’s betrothal. Before the ceremony begins, Franz informs Sissi that he will marry his sister Elena because she has no interest and it will be easier to manage the marriage. During the party, however, he turns the tables and, to his surprise, delivers the bouquet that seals the engagement to Sissi. Faced with the emperor’s decision, Elena can do nothing but accept the sad reality and prepare her sister for the rigid life of the court.

So it’s done. Elizabeth and Franz are getting ready to get married. The Kaiser showers her with gifts, but at the same time alerts her to court protocols. Furthermore, there is bad blood between Franz and his future father-in-lawsince the Duke is reluctant to accept that his daughter renounces her freedom.

Still, Franz attends a brothel where he meets a prostitute. She finds out. It’s not there and he takes her to court as his personal maid, under an assumed name. He presents it as the Countess Franziska von Lotty (Paula Kober).

The first disagreements between Sissi and Franz

The wedding day arrives and the attraction felt during the meetings that preceded the happy event is not enough. The wife is too young to consummate the marriage and this creates the first difficulties for the couple. Franz moves away and starts dating other women. Furthermore, Sissi does not have any authority on the court, Fanny she is deemed not up to the task of personal maid. Furthermore, is exposed and removed.

So he runs into three criminals, but to his rescue comes Lajos (Yasmani Stambader), a Hungarian patriot determined to assassinate Franz. Sissi and the Kaiser move to Laxenburg for their honeymoon, but after a few moments of happiness Franz disappears. He has received an urgent communication and has to leave for Vienna. Once again, the Empress makes her head and joins him.

Arrived in Vienna, prevents her husband from punishing the rebel soldiers. The Kaiser does not accept his wife’s outstretched leg surgery and the distance between the two seems unbridgeable. The day of receiving the lands of the crown arrives and for Sissi it is a real riot. Her people love her and the head of the Hungarian delegation asks Franz to pardon the insurgents. The Kaiser frees the prisoners and is impressed by his wife’s unconventional but successful approach.
