Jannik Sinner will also be among the protagonists of the “Million One Point Slam”, one of the performances of the Australian Open which will be staged on Tuesday 13 January in the inaugural open week of the first slam of the season, in Melbourne. The world number two was announced by Craig Tiley, the Australian tournament director, along with Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff: “The Million One Point Slam is unlike anything we have ever seen. Having stars like Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner and Coco Gauff committed to playing, alongside Australians who qualify through the State Championships, captures exactly the spirit of this event: uniting people through tennis in an exciting and inclusive way,” Tiley said in an official statement.

The million one point slam

Sinner will star with Nick Kyrgios, the Australian local idol making his return to the pitch, and Carlos Alcaraz, who will be among the forty-eight participants – professionals, amateurs and wild card celebrities – who will compete for a prize pool of 1 million dollars: each match will be decided by a single point, in a high-pressure knockout format. The special format will have a normal direct elimination scoreboard and through the game “Paper, scissors, rock”, it will be decided who will serve and who will return in each single “match”. Whoever wins the point will go to the next round and the final winner will take home $1 million. If an amateur wins the tournament, Tennis Australia, in addition to the winner’s prize, will donate an additional one million to the Australian Tennis Foundation.

Jannik’s other performances

Before his official debut of the year in the Melbourne slam, Sinner will participate in the exhibition in Seoul against Carlos Alcaraz, on January 7, and then at the Rod Laver Arena he will face Felix Auger-Aliassime, in what is becoming a classic on hard courts in recent times. In 2025, the two faced each other four times in the season finale, with Jannik always the winner
