The confession and conviction of Julia Simon is and remains one of the dominant topics of conversation in the biathlon circus. The case is also being discussed within the Swedish team. One opinion prevails there.

With regard to the Simon case, they in the Swedish biathlon team agree. They are all happy that they are not directly or indirectly affected by it and only have the role of spectator.

“I really don’t envy them this situation,” Elvira Öberg told “SVT,” referring to Simon and the rest of the French team. “Suddenly she confesses and everything changes. It’s a very strange situation,” added the Olympic champion.

Above all, Öberg is happy that there is no such source of fire in the Swedish team. “We really don’t want to be part of this group and experience everything from the inside,” said the 26-year-old openly and honestly.

“You wonder if it can even be true.”

Her sister Hanna didn’t see this development coming either. “We didn’t believe for a second that something like that could happen within a team,” she said, horrified that ten-time world champion Simon stole from her own teammate and other members of the team.

Ella Halvarsson was in the same vein. The 26-year-old finds the whole story so serious “that one wonders whether it can even be true.” Because she is, the matter will also leave its mark on the French team. At least Sebastian Samuelsson is convinced of that.

“Yes, absolutely! The group will be influenced by it. If it weren’t like that, it would be very strange,” he said on the “SVT” microphone. The Olympic champion and two-time world champion added that he was glad that such an incident did not occur within his team.
