Significant decrease in the number of available reception places for asylum seekers

The number of available reception places for asylum seekers in local reception initiatives (LOIs) has fallen by more than 30 percent since 2021. This is evident from figures from Fedasil. According to Green MP Matti Vandemaele, who also requested the figures from resigning State Secretary for Asylum and Migration Nicole de Moor (CD&V), the evolution “goes against all logic”.
