A big scare for residents of the Lekstraat in Assen on Sunday morning. Around half past five in the morning there was an explosion at a house on that street.
The police say that they are most likely heavy fireworks. No one was injured. The house was damaged.
The police immediately started an investigation into the circumstances of the explosion. Trace investigations have been carried out and a neighborhood investigation has taken place. They currently believe that two men were involved in causing the explosion.
The suspects fled in an unknown direction after the explosion. The police are looking for people in the area of Lekstraat with camera images showing one or two suspicious people around 5:30 am. This concerns the time period before and after the explosion.
“It is also possible that the suspects used a car, bicycle or other means of transport. Do you have images that show something? Please contact us,” the police said.
