For the second consecutive night, the USA targeted sites in Iran, following an Iranian attack on a cargo ship. Tehran, in response, allegedly struck U.S. military bases.

Historically, a ceasefire existed between the USA and Iran. However, tensions are escalating in the Gulf once again. According to U.S. military reports, a retaliatory strike against Tehran has been executed, targeting multiple sites, including air defense systems, drone facilities, and surveillance infrastructure.

The reason cited for this aggression was “Iranian aggression against civilian shipping.” Iran reportedly targeted the tanker “Kiku” with a drone. Iranian state media covered multiple explosions in the Sirik and Qeshm regions in the southern part of the country.

This marks the second U.S. attack on Iran since the framework agreement was signed between the two nations in mid-June. Just earlier, U.S. forces had reported targeting Iranian missile and drone sites, as well as coastal radar systems, in response to an attack on a cargo ship on Thursday.

Mutual Threats

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his frustration on his social media platform, Truth Social. He stated, “It is very possible they will never learn! There may come a point when we cannot be reasonable and will be forced to militarily complete the work we have started successfully.” If this happens, he warned, “the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!”

In response to the recent U.S. attacks, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard reportedly announced that their naval and air forces launched operations involving missiles and drones targeting U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. They declared that a breach of the ceasefire would violate the framework agreement between Tehran and Washington, leading to “the complete breakdown of all diplomatic processes.”
