The Haarlem Briton had planned to also run the Amsterdam marathon with his globe in the autumn, but he has decided against that. “I really reached my limits yesterday. The next outfit has to be lighter. Then I can also reach the time limit and keep running among the other runners.”

Today Paul is not taking it easy. He’ll just start ‘plogging’ again, as he does every day. That means picking up trash from the street while running. “That’s my real mission.” And tomorrow he will ‘just’ run back to Amsterdam for a radio interview. In his banana suit, because he also wants to stand out during his daily walks. “But I now understand why bananas are crooked,” laughs Paul.

Paul’s globe can be admired from the beginning of February during an exhibition in the Zandvoorts Museum.
