Sara Gambetta pushed the ball the farthest in front of the Brandenburg Gate on Thursday (23.06.22) and secured the German championship title. The athlete from the LG Eintracht Frankfurt achieved the best distance of 18.67 m and thus jumped five centimeters further than Katharina Maisch, who starts for the LV 90 Erzgebirge.
Gambetta, eighth at the Olympics in Tokyo, also leads the German list of the best for the year with 18.88 m. The trio had already surpassed the standards for the upcoming World Championships in Eugene/USA (July 15th to 24th) and the European Championships at home in Munich (August 15th to 21st) before the “finals”. Former world champion Christina Schwanitz ended her career in February. The men around David Storl (Leipzig) will get into the ring on Friday (2 p.m.).
