Two shoplifters tried to steal hundreds of euros worth of records from music store Sounds Tilburg on Saturday afternoon. A young employee was standing behind the cash register at the time and did not trust the pair. He confronted them. “I’m still a bit in shock.”

The employee saw the duo walking in in the afternoon. “I recognized them from an earlier visit. I had already lost something,” he says. He decided to follow them and saw a large pile of records under their arms. “That stack of records kept getting smaller and smaller.”

He decided to speak to them, but found it very exciting. “They were my age, for the same money they were friends of mine,” says the employee, bewildered. He also prefers not to be mentioned by name. “After much hesitation, one of them opened his bag. There were eleven records and one CD in the bag. That’s hundreds of euros.”

He got the records back, then the duo walked away. “We didn’t really talk to each other, they wanted to leave quickly,” says the employee. “I don’t really know if I did the right thing, but for me it is most important that they just don’t do it anymore. It is a shame, because we often lose records. For an entrepreneur that is a lot of money.”

A colleague took a photo of the two and posted them on the internet. “Two individuals caught with a bag full of stolen records. Assholes,” the store wrote. “This is for all future THIEVES: you will be caught. Your money will be taken, photos will be taken and distributed among our fellow shopkeepers in Tilburg and far beyond. F*ck you. Don’t try us.”
