On Saturday, in the English football Championship match, two men suspected to be Sheffield Wednesday supporters mocked the opposing team, Sunderland, in a derogatory way.

A photo of the men is spreading, where one of them is showing TV cameras a picture of a person who died of a rare cancer in 2017 from his phone From Bradley Lowery. The man standing next to him seems to be laughing at the action.

Six-year-old Lowery, who supported Sunderland and became the club’s favorite mascot, fought almost his entire life against a rare cancer. The happy child melted hearts in the football world and also went to one of the England national team games to accompany the then Sunderland player Jermaine Defoe to the field.

In March 2017, Lowery escorted Defoe to the field before the World Cup qualifying match. PDO

Lowery’s death touched many. Especially the captain Defoe who played for Sunderland, who became a good friend of Lowery. Thousands of people attended Lowery’s funeral procession.

Sheffield Wednesday condemns the men’s actions and announced that they are assisting the authorities in the investigation. The police are trying to find out the identities of the suspects. The men are threatened with a gate ban for Wednesday’s matches.

– We strongly condemn this outrageous and extremely regrettable behavior. We can only apologize for the pain caused to Bradley’s family and friends.

Lowery’s mother wrote in X that she was disappointed.

– My son was and still is loved in the football community, for which I am forever grateful. I still want to ask that everyone give the police peace of mind. I thank the Sheffield Wednesday team for their quick response.

The fundraiser, named in honor of Bradley Lowery, has received more than £5,000 in donations over the weekend.

Sunderland beat Sheffield 3–0.
