Garbage front woman Shirley Manson shoots sharply against “Daily Mail” with a statement. The British newspaper had released an article entitled “Legendary American rock band on new album photos-published first single”, which Manson primarily referred to himself.
In an Instagram post, the Garbage singer criticized the headline as an age-discriminatory and personally attacking: “What does that mean? “The druids” – that’s what Manson calls her male bandmates – “look almost as much as thirty years ago. So that can only be coined on me.”

The front woman continues: “I am almost sixty years old. Of course I don’t look like at the end of twenty?!”, Shirley Manson continues. “Honestly: I would find it rather scary if I did it – but well, that is probably only me.” Behind the comments of the Daily Mail not only sees Manson a personal insult, but a structural problem: “Such formulations are used as a weapon to refer a woman like me to her place,” says Manson. “So I decided not to accept this ‘gift’. This gift is a letdown.”
Then she explains that she does not let such tastelessness be put on and continues to age. “I will continue to age, as I am. I will get wrinkles and lash-here one centimeter less, since maybe one more-but I will still look sweet in my pajamas, with disassembled hair and without make-up. And no matter what I look, no matter what you say about myself-I will always rock forever, harder than most,” writes Manson.

Manson currently also has to do other things than to get excited about sexist headlines. Garbage will be back on May 30 with the new album “Let all that we imagine” Be the Light.
