She does it again; gold medal for Cathelijn Peeters at the Indoor World Championships

Cathelijn Peeters from Dongen won a gold medal at the Indoor World Championships in Glasgow. Together with her teammates Femke Bol, Lieke Klaver and Lisanne de Witte, she set the best time in the 4×400 meter relay. It is the first time in the history of Dutch athletics that a relay team wins gold at an Indoor World Championships.

The four did this in a time of 3:25.07, which meant they fell below the Dutch record. The United States team took silver in 3:25.34 and the bronze medal went to Great Britain in 3:26.36.

In the final there was absolute dominance. Klaver already took the lead as the starting runner, Peeters and De Witte held the first position, so that Bol could finish. The American Alexis Holmes pushed for the last meters, but Bol managed to squeeze out an extra acceleration to the finish line.

The same Dutch team also participated in the outdoor World Championships in Athletics in Budapest in August last year. They also won gold there with the relay.

Cathelijn Peeters is increasingly being recognized on the street, she said last year
