The global markets for defense technology, drone systems and surveillance grow rapidly – not least driven by geopolitical tensions and technological jumps. While large well -known armaments companies such as Rheinmetall, Renk or Hensoldt are already in the focus of institutional investors, specialized providers from Canada and Australia are now becoming the focus of German private investors.

Droneshield from Australia is one of the most sought -after small caps in the field of drone detection and defense. The company is developing highly specialized systems for neutralizing unmanned flight objects – a topic that has strategically gained in importance since the Ukraine secretary. The products are already used for governments, military and security services worldwide. Since the beginning of the year, the company has increased almost 360 percent of value since the beginning of the year. On Thursday, however, the share on the home exchange in Sydney ultimately posted a strong discount from 9.07 percent to 3.51 AUD.
Volatus aerospace, a Canadian provider of drone technology and air surveillance, convinces with a combination of civil and military application. In addition to industrial services, Volatus is increasingly offering solutions for safety -related tasks – for example in disaster protection or border monitoring. While the share on Thursday in Canada at times 10.13 percent of value had to be born to $ 0.71, there has still been a plus of around 390 percent on the spa board since the beginning of the year.
Clara Technologies, also located in Canada, develop AI-based software solutions for the sales area. The focus is on the “Sales Buddi” app, a virtual sales coach that enables personalized sales training, performance feedback and automated follow-ups with the help of artificial intelligence. In the long term, the company plans to expand its platform to expand quantum-inspired analysis models. For the Clara Technologies share on Thursday in Canada, 5.38 percent at 6.85 Canadian dollars, but since the start of 2025, the share has even increased by a brilliant 2,640 percent.
German investors fascinated
High growth rates, clear strategic positioning and proximity to current security questions make shares such as Droneshield & Co., especially for German investors, are increasingly exciting. In addition, these companies are still in comparatively early phases of their capital market career – with the appropriate course and risk potential.
Another reason: The political proximity of both countries to the western defense alliance creates trust, while the geographical distance to acute conflict regions such as the Middle East or East Asia is perceived as a stabilizing factor.
Nevertheless, investors should be caution, as the papers of these companies are shaped by high volatility. The enormous course performance also raises questions, for example, Clara Technologies recently told the Canadian stock exchange: “At the request of the Ciro, Clara Technologies would like to confirm that the corporate management is not aware of any significant changes in business activities that would explain the latest increase in market activity”.
