A spokesperson for the fire brigade says that the fire was created on the first floor. Then the fire crossed the wooden balcony to the two wooden balconies upstairs.

The resident of the house on the first floor could leave the house on time. Residents of the house on the second floor were removed from their house with the help of a brigade of the fire brigade.

All residents were checked by ambulance personnel because of the smoke, but they did not have to go to the hospital.

Uninhabitable

The houses on the first, second and third floor are currently uninhabitable due to the smoke and fire damage. Surrounding homes are currently also evacuated.

The fire brigade will still check those homes to see if there is carbon monoxide. “If those measurements prove to be negative, they can hopefully go back in again,” says the firefighter.

Back

The street is partly closed. A bystander who stands by the ribbon says that there is not much to see at the front of the building. “At a certain point we saw sparks coming out of the roof, but the entire fire concentrates on the back of the building.”

A resident of the Zeeburgerdijk, a lot further away, says that the smoke in her neighborhood can be smelled well. “Now I just walk outside and the sky is not to harden here,” she writes.

Close windows and doors

Local residents who, like her, suffer from the smoke, are asked by the fire brigade to close the windows and doors. Furthermore, they can best disable mechanical ventilation.
