The play-offs are back. The novelty of the field, proposed by Lega Serie A last June 7 and still to be ratified by the FIGC, is the return of the direct challenge for the championship and relegation, in case of arrival on equal points. To decide the Italian champion team and the one that will go down to Serie B, therefore, the criterion of head-to-head clashes between two teams will no longer apply, but there will be a challenge in a straight match (detached classification, however, if the teams are more of two).
As regards all the other positions of the ranking, which are valid for the qualification to the European Cups and the prizes linked to the final ranking, the criterion of direct comparisons will remain in force.
