After eight match days
US Salernitana 1919 has parted ways with coach Paulo Sousa after a poor start to the season. The 53-year-old took over the position last February and led the Granata to stay in the league. After eight matchdays in the new Serie A season, Salernitana is still winless and in 19th place with three points.
Sousa’s successor has already been chosen: Filippo Inzaghi should lead Salernitana out of the relegation zone and ensure that they stay in the league in the third Serie A year. The older brother of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was with Reggina 1914 last season, which missed out on promotion to Serie A in the play-offs. The forced relegation due to financial irregularities also ended Inzaghi’s involvement.
