Ajax will compete in the play-offs of the Europa League against the Bulgarian top club Ludogorets, the club of former FC Groningen goalkeeper Sergio Padt.
The Bulgarians won the home match against FC Astana 5-1. Last week it had become 2-1 for FC Astana in Kazakhstan. The Pool Jakub Piotrowski scored twice on Thursday evening.
In a week’s time, on Thursday 24 August, Ajax will first play an away match against the reigning national champion of Bulgaria. The return in the Johan Cruijff ArenA is a week later. The winner of the meeting qualifies for the group stage of the second club tournament in Europe.

Former FC Groningen goalkeeper Sergio Padt under contract with Ludogorets. The goalie, who played at the Pride of the North from 2014 to 2021, did not participate in the 5-1 win.
