Last season, Selina Grotian not only celebrated her first World Cup victory, but also took an excellent ninth place in the overall World Cup. In the Olympic winter, the 21-year-old wants to attack at the front again – with a modified rifle, but also under more difficult conditions.

Besides Franziska Preuß, Selina Grotian was clearly the biggest winner in the DSV team last biathlon season. She finished in the top 10 in an individual race eleven times and even made it onto the podium in Annecy and Antholz. There is much to suggest that this was just the beginning. However, Grotian must first confirm these services, and from now on without “puppy protection”.

“You can say that I’m no longer the chick that I was two years ago. Things were sometimes overlooked, that’s no longer the case. People don’t forgive me as much anymore,” Grotian explained in the “chiemgau24” interview that she is aware that she is now perceived differently – as a full member of the team from which results are also expected.

Grotian wants to fulfill his next “childhood dream”.

However, these expectations do not cause any problems for her, on the contrary. “I actually feel the expectations are lower,” she said. She arrived in the World Cup at the latest with her victory in the mass start in Annecy. In doing so, she was able to fulfill a “childhood dream”. And the next dream is already waiting.

“I already have my next childhood dream in mind: the Olympics. I want to go to the Olympic Games, that’s my main goal for the coming season,” explained the 21-year-old, who also made a change to her rifle for this dream.

“I have had a new shaft built and I want to continue to improve my shooting,” revealed the DSV athlete, who recorded a hit rate of almost 85 percent last winter and was therefore not yet among the best in the world.
