In Norway there was the first precious metal for the German ski jumping team. Selina Friday jumped in second place on the normal hill.

Ski jumper Selina Freitag gave the German team the first medal at the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim and conquered her first single medal with a major event with silver. The 23 -year -old Saxon jumped 99 and 103.5 meters in the final in the final and only had to surrender to the victorious Slovenin Nika Prevc. Bronze got Eirin Maria Kvandal from Norway.

Friday has already been world champion in the Slovenian Planica 2023, but in a team and in mixed. The sister of ex-professional Richard Freitag had never got over fourth place in a World Cup singles. In a gripping competition, the German ski jumper kept her nerve and left Norwegian Anna Odine Strøm and Alexandria Loutent from Canada clearly behind in the second round.

One day after the start in the Nordic combination, Friday ended German lack of medal in the fourth World Cup competition. On Friday, too, four times in the World Cup had ranked second, each behind the outstanding Prevc. After attempts at 98 and 100 meters, this could not be defeated in Trondheim.

For the further team behind Friday, things went less successfully. Agnes Reisch made it into the top ten as a tenth. Defending champion Katharina Schmid did not get past 19th. “She has to go through there. And we’re going through there,” said national coach Heinz Kuttin. Luisa Görlich injured his knee in qualification and had to leave prematurely. Team jumping is pending on Saturday (5 p.m./ZDF and Eurosport).
