Second division: three-pointer AFC and Jong FC Volendam gives away the lead again

It seemed to be exciting for AFC, but Mohammed Tahiri’s goal came too late. As a result, the team from Amsterdam defeated Jong Sparta 2-1. Just like last week, Jong FC Volendam had to concede a late goal against Noordwijk (3-2) and OFC was again without points: 2-4 against Kozak Boys.

AFC player Splinter de Mooij (l) cheers after his goal against Jong Sparta – Pro Shots / Stanley Gontha

Splinter de Mooij was dangerous against the Spartans for the first time. However, the midfielder’s effort went behind the goal via a scrimmage. Via Melvin Platje, AFC then got two great chances in a row. First his shot ended as a corner and then it was goalkeeper Joey Koorevaar, who kept him from scoring. It was De Mooij who broke the spell after exactly half an hour with a header: 1-0.

The second half had few exciting moments, until Koorevaar made a showy blunder. The goalie released a cross. Cody Claver took advantage of that and he scored the 2-0. Mohammed Tahiri made the connecting goal in the 88th minute. That turned out to be without consequences.

Due to the victory, AFC continues to follow in the footsteps of De Teffers with two points less. Benno Nihom’s team must hope for a misstep by the leader against Koninklijke HFC.

Milan de Haan (8) scored two goals for Jong FC Volendam – Pro Shots / Toon Dompeling

The start of Jong FC Volendam visiting Noordwijk was dramatic. Within half a minute the ball was already in the net via Jesper de Vré. It seemed to get even more annoying after Emiel Wendt scored. Volendam got away well, because it was offside. Milan de Haan equalized by scoring from the bottom of the bar: 1-1. The game then went back and forth with great chances, only without goals.

After the break, goalkeeper Barry Lauwers kept his team going several times. De Haan even gave Volendam the lead in the final phase: 2-1. However, it was Jose Barbosa Nhoca, who tied the teams again three minutes later. Noordwijk started to press and that resulted in a goal from Wendt after 88 minutes: 3-2. With that, a victory slipped out of the hands of Volendam for the second game in a row. Excelsior Maassluis was a bummer last week.

Due to the defeat, Kiki Musampa’s team remains in penultimate place in the second division.

OFC – Cossack Boys

At home, it was not possible for OFC against Kozak Boys. The Oostzaners were already 2-0 behind after half an hour by goals from Johnny Lommers and Giovanni Büttner.

After the break, Kevin Vermeulen and Lommers scored, which made it look like a hard defeat again. Substitute Soufiane Recclaoui made two more goals. This made the loss for OFC a little more bearable: 2-4.

OFC therefore remains the red lantern bearer in the second division.
