Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who received a four-year prison sentence, asked US President Donald Trump for clemency, Trump says of The New York Times in the interview. Trump said he received a letter from Combs.
Trump says in an interview that he is not going to grant a pardon to Combs, who was convicted of prostitution crimes.
Trump, 79, and Combs, 56, were People magazine on friendly terms in the late 90s. Trump’s election victory in 2016 caused a breach. According to Trump, Combs made “nasty comments” about him.
Trump has been asked before about pardoning Combs. In May of last year, she said she hadn’t spoken to Combs in years.
– I don’t know (what I would do). I would definitely check the facts. If I think somebody has been wronged, it doesn’t matter if they like me or not, Trump said at the time.
Newsmax’s in an interview last year, Trump implied that Combs’ past animosity toward Trump would make a pardon more difficult.
