Seafood foresees a record fair with more weight from Spanish and Chinese companies

The 29th edition of the congress Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global will open its doors between next April 25 and 27 with record contracted area and great growth expectations. The 49,299 square meters of surface contracted are the first course of a fair in the food sector that is going further and that places Barcelona on new maps of economic activity. The keys to this expansion are the very attractiveness of Barcelona and its extensive fairgrounds, the hotel offer and the growth of Spanish and Asian exhibitors at the fair. Vice President of Diversified Communications, Liz Plizgaand the general director of Fira de Barcelona, Constanti Serrallonga, showed their satisfaction on Monday for a strategic alliance that points to long years of relationship. Plizga has shown his business intelligence by falling in love with Barcelona, ​​after a long period of 20 years of fairs in Brussels that threatened to undermine the loyalty of exhibitors and disappoint potential visitors to a professional fair eager to complement their stay with other attractions.

Of this year’s edition, the arrival in Barcelona of the Galician institutional pavilion, but also the general interest in Spanish companies in the sector, which, according to the latest data, will occupy at least 8,757 square meters of exhibition, compared to just over 3,900 meters in the 2019 edition. It is that of seafood a prominent sector of commercial activity in Spain and the presence in Barcelona of a world reference fair is a good opportunity to buy and sell. In the case of China, the occupied area will be at least 2,144 square meters, 87% of what it was before the pandemic. There is room for growth, the same as among Spanish medium-sized companies. In this year’s edition, the dynamism of the manufacturing industry must be closely monitored, but also the importance of the pavilions of countries that sponsor interesting companies that, due to their size, require institutional support to attend fairs such as the seafood. This year there will be a total of 68 regional or state pavilions.
