Scoring defender Robin Lathouwers slowly crawls towards the main force of AZ

Robin Lathouwers appeared in front of the camera with a big smile. Just before that, the right back of Jong AZ decided the game against Helmond Sport. Lathouwers scored the 3-1 in the 89th minute. “These are the tastiest.”

In addition to Robin Lathouwers, Soulyman Allouch and Damienus Reverson also scored for Jong AZ. The victory in Helmond already means the second in this early season. As a result, Jong AZ is in second place in the first division after two games. That of course says little, but it does give trainer Maarten Martens a nice feeling.

With his 22 years and the necessary experience in professional football, Lathouwers is one of the key players at Jong AZ. The Hoofddorper has been around AZ for years and completed the entire youth academy. One team is still missing and that is the Alkmaar main force. Lathouwers recently made his unofficial debut for Pascal Jansen’s team. “I feel close to it.”

Lathouwers’ competitors at AZ are Yukinari Sugawara and Pantelis Hatzidiakos. You would think that renting out might be an option to gain more experience in the Eredivisie, but Lathouwers clearly shows that he is still in his place at AZ for the time being.

The next match for Jong AZ is at home against Almere City on Monday, August 22.
