The European Championship Futsal will be the first sports event in the Netherlands with an audience. Following the relaxations announced by the cabinet tonight, spectators can be present at the matches in Amsterdam and Groningen from tomorrow.
The cabinet has set a maximum of 1250 people for sports events that take place indoors. This means that fans are welcome again at the last round of the group stage and at the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.
“Fantastic news”, says tournament director Gijs de Jong. “Finally, the doors can open to the public. Not only for the fans this is the chance to experience the European Championship up close, but also for all teams, municipalities and everyone who has worked hard for this all along. “
Place in the quarterfinals
The Dutch futsal team will play its third and final group match at the European Championship on Friday. After a win against Ukraine and a defeat against Portugal, the Netherlands can qualify for the quarter-finals with a good result against Serbia. The match in Amsterdam starts on Friday at 8.30 pm. The knockout phase of the tournament will be played entirely in Amsterdam, with the final on Sunday, February 6.
