GMS Verbund GmbH has appointed Martin Schneider as managing director. In his new role, he will take over the operational management in close cooperation with the commercial director Elena Rotar, “said the Schuhhandelsverbund on Wednesday.

The GMS founders Karsten Niehus and Thomas Schulte-Huermann remained “closely into the strategic development and further expansion of the youngest German group of associations,” the company said, even after Schneider’s appointment. However, the aim of the personnel decision is to give “essential areas of operational leadership in younger hands”.

Schneider has been with GMS since 2021. Most recently, he held the post of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Co-founder Thomas Schulte-Huermann explained the promotion now. “Martin Schneider enjoys our full trust. In the past five years, he has contributed with great commitment and noticeable enthusiasm and has a significant impact on the trusting cooperation with our dealers,” he said in a statement. “The appeal to the managing director is the logical next step to interlock strategy and day -to -day business even better.”
