The 32-year-old West Friezin still had a contract until 2026 with the skating team. After an extremely successful skating career, Schouten decided to put an end to her career at the beginning of last year. At the request of the team, she remained affiliated with AH Zaanlander. “In the past period, together we looked at an appropriate interpretation, but in the end there was insufficient basis to continue together,” the team said in a press release.
“After 10 great years I say goodbye to Team AH/Zaanlander. I want to thank everyone for the beautiful moments I have been able to experience. Where do doors close others will open. What I am also looking forward to! Stay tuned,” Schouten writes on Instagram. It is still unknown whether Schouten will return to another team. Earlier this year she made her return in the marathonpeloton after her pregnancy.
