The criticism from Norway after the German protest in the Nordic combination annoys Julian Schmid. The DSV athlete shoots back sharply.
The dispute in the Nordic combination continues to escalate. After the violent criticism of Norway’s world champion Jarl Magnus Riiber on the German team, DSV athlete Julian Schmid reacted with clear words. “What he says doesn’t interest me at all. It doesn’t matter to me what he says. I do my stuff, we do our stuff. What he is shouting around, I don’t care,” said Schmid on Friday and showed himself unusually directly.
The background to the argument is a protest by the German Ski Association (DSV) after the individual competition at the World Cup in Trondheim last Saturday. Riiber had sharply criticized the German approach. “I am really bad and I get a lot of adrenaline when I think about how to behave so badly,” said the 27-year-old of the newspaper “Dagbladet”. He also described the behavior of the DSV as “disgusting”.
Riiber had won the competition in front of his compatriot Jens Lurås AUSTEBRO and the German Olympic champion Vinzenz Geiger. The DSV protest took place because frequentebro is said to have left the route with a ski.
However, the world association FIS dismissed the objection and referred to a disqualification of frequent broses. Riiber nevertheless bothered by the procedure of the German Association. “Something like that is simply unsportsmanlike,” he said. Oftenbro also showed little understanding of the protest. National coach Eric Frenzel had again admitted shortly after the race that the decision was understandable after viewing the video images.
