Former Bundesliga coach David Wagner has no more ambitions than working as a club coach. Compared to “Sport1″, the former coach of FC Schalke 04 and the Premier League club Huddersfield Town and Norwich City told that. I can no longer imagine it. Every day is new, exciting and exciting-it wasn’t a coach anymore. I do something new, and I think that’s great. ” Wagner has headed RB Leipzig’s youth department since July and thus works very closely with his friend Jürgen Klopp, Red Bull’s global football director.

Wagner had motivational problems before he took office in Norwich. “Back then I asked myself the question of how long I would like to practice this coaching job. Then came the offer from Norwich, which made me insanely. After the end of the playoffs, I made the decision to do something new. One thing was clear to me: the existence as a club coach no longer packed me as the years before. I did nothing with me, not like ten years ago.

Wagner has big goals in Leipzig. In the end it was “not optimal. Now it’s time for changes – I am there. The setup is outstanding. We want to be the best academy in Germany. My big dream is to integrate a player from our academy into the first team to play in the Bundesliga for years. This is a challenge that has not yet been achieved in over ten years. This is why I am here.”

The currently most valuable professional from the RB youth is Stuttgart’s Medin Demirovic, who only made the breakthrough through detours in Spain, Switzerland, Freiburg and Augsburg. From the current squad, Viggo Gebel is the only player from his own youth who has already been used.
