SC Magdeburg has returned with a clear victory in the Handball Champions League. Bennet Wiegert’s team won 37:27 (18:12) against the Slovenian representative RK Celje.
In Group B, the defending champions remain safely second behind FC Barcelona, who have the same points and have played one game less.
Three days after the unexpected defeat in the Bundesliga at Hannover-Burgdorf (27:28), Magdeburg showed strong nerves in Celje, especially in the second half.
The Wiegert team jumped out to a six-goal lead at halftime and remained focused when the hosts fought their way to within two goals at 22:24.
