Johan Derksen states that his employer SBS 6 is ‘dead sick’ that they have not purchased De Bevers. “It shows that you are successful,” says the Today Inside star.
John de Bever and his friend have received the green light from RTL 5 to make a third season of their reality series De Bevers. Very nice, says Johan Derksen. He is good friends with the folk singer and together they gave a double interview to The Telegraph.
‘SBS 6 is fed up’
Johan confesses in that interview that he likes to watch De Bevers. “Yes, and my wife enjoys it too. Not because we like John, but it’s just funny. Kees is always a ray of sunshine in the house and John is a grumpy gentleman with a morning mood. It’s a great combination, these two people.”
He continues: “They are characters, and that works on TV. At SBS6 they are sick of not buying this program at the time. And from that you can conclude that you are successful.”
Television talent
Does John like that his husband Kees is now also in the spotlight? He says: “According to Johan, my husband Kees is a television talent. I agree with him that he has a large share in the success of the soap.”
“At first I was not thrilled to make such a program. But Johan immediately said: ‘You should do that, your singing career will benefit.’ And he was right. Of course it was also important to me that Kees wanted to show his whole life on TV. He had no problem with it. We knew it was a gamble, but it paid off.”

The third season of De Bevers will be shown on RTL 5 in the spring.
