Tension and protests at the end: the coach and players leave the pitch without giving interviews. Almost at midnight the laconic comment from the Biancoceleste club appeared on social media

Silence. We’ll talk about it. Of course. But not in the heat of the moment, after the furious protests of the whole team for the missed penalty in the added time of the match against Milan. Just one tweet, almost at midnight, from the club’s official profile: “We’re sorry not to go to the press room, this evening the images speak for us.” Lazio left the pitch without releasing any statement: neither Maurizio Sarri, nor the players nor the managers. The disputed episode is a touch of the elbow by Pavlovic in the penalty area, reviewed at the VAR by referee Collu: no penalty, there was a foul by Marusic first on the Rossoneri defender. A final of tension, nervousness and confusion (Allegri and a member of the Biancoceleste bench, Sarri’s deputy Ianni, were sent off), with the Lazio players protesting the decision.

This time Sarri and the club preferred silence to immediate declarations. Then the club’s anger arrives with the harsh late-night tweet. After Inter-Lazio the coach had harshly attacked the category (admitting, however, that Inter would have won in any case): “It’s time to hire foreign referees”. And again: “This match confirmed the low level of Italian whistles.” Lazio then expressed its position in a statement, almost going against its coach: “The referee’s work did not in any way influence the progress of the match nor the final result. The considerations expressed immediately must be read in the context immediately following the match, after moments of understandable sporting tension.”
