Sarah was a happy, creative and life-thirsty young person. Sarah got sick when she was in high school.

Sarah suffered from suicidal thoughts and sought help. The seriousness of the situation was revealed to Sarah’s family when Sarah was checked into the ward. He was diagnosed with major depression.

Sarah received help from group therapy. He returned to his normal life full of power and light. Sarah was told that the depression could come back, but now she would know where to get help.

That didn’t happen. When Sarah’s condition worsened again ten months later, she found herself in a never-ending cycle. Didn’t get appointments. The doctors’ referrals to the old familiar treatment place were rejected. Sarah was always only referred to the new doctor. Each doctor gave Sarah a new diagnosis.

– I guess it was because he feels too bad, Lise-mother ponders the reason for the rejected referrals.

Sarah’s mother Lise has made it her life’s mission to ensure that no one else has to experience Sarah’s fate. Over

Sarah sought help for herself until the end. After months of waiting, the long-awaited e-mail notification came that Sarah would get a place in familiar group therapy.

The message came too late. Sarah’s life ended that day. The young woman was found lifeless by a locksmith whom Lise’s alarmed mother had called to open the door of her daughter’s apartment. There was nothing left to do.

Relatives said their goodbyes at Sarah’s hospital chapel. A funeral was held later. Sarah was buried in a yellow coffin.

– He loved yellow. He was a bright and colorful person, a friend Amalie tells.

Lise’s mother cannot say whether Sarah would have ended up taking her own life anyway.

– But the probability of suicide would have been significantly lower if he had received the right treatment. We realized that he didn’t get it, mother roars.
