Thomas Müller as an assistant coach at the DFB? Sounds like harmony, down -to -earthness and tact – but one thing is above all: too early. Anyone who knows Müller knows that he is not the type that simply squeezes into a suit, puts on the bench and works in a good job in the background. He wants to play – and he can do it too!

That is why there is only a logical solution: Müller has to celebrate his career end as a player – and not somewhere, but at Inter Miami in the MLS. Together with Lionel Messi. Yes, really. The idea is too good so as not to serve them seriously: Müller with his creativity, overview and the brilliant passes – Messi as an executor. A dream combination that would cause a stir worldwide.

In the United States, Müller not only had the chance to shine properly again in terms of sport, but also to turn it up in the media. The stage is perfect, the fans love sloping guys with heart – that is exactly Müller. Instead of becoming quiet and secretly assistant, he could start in America as a German superstar. And best of all: after a year or two there he can still return to the DFB – more mature, global, even bigger.

Puting it into the DFB apparatus immediately is giving away potential. Müller is more than a career co-trainer. He is a showman, a leader, unique. And Inter Miami with Müller and Messi? That is more than a marketing gag – that would be history. And you don’t write them as an assistant on the coaching bench.
