Sami Pajari experienced a surprising situation immediately during the warm-up of the opening race of the World Rally Championship season.
The season starts on Thursday with the iconic Monte Carlo rally, the test special stage of which was run on Wednesday from early evening. Toyota driver Pajari starts his first full season in the main class of the World Championship.
Pajar had to be awake as soon as Monte with shakedownwhen the wild animals produced an extra program number in front of the Finnish driver. In front of the Toyota, deer bounced on both sides of the road.
– There was a family of deer crossing the road at a bit of a bad moment. It was going to be funny, but I was able to dodge quite well, so that there were no major hits, Pajari told Iltalehte.
The situation turned out well, as all parties were able to smoothly continue their journey in their own directions.
– Everyone says that this is a challenging race, but I didn’t expect such challenges, that there are even deer running in front. That program number should only be in Safari, Pajari piped up.

Pajar’s competitive challenges start on Thursday evening, when the program includes three special tests. This year’s classic race is expected to be challenging in terms of conditions, as there may be some snow and ice on the route during the weekend.
The Finnish driver’s plan is to play it safe, because the most important thing for him is to gain experience.
– In the big picture, I’m in a great situation and I’ve reached a great point. It’s a big achievement to get here, but at the same time I know that the work is just beginning here. I try to think that I don’t take any pressure from the results yet, Pajari planned.
– Of course, there is still time here, but at some point it would be important to provide some evidence. But that’s not really in this race, he underlined.
