Safety risk area Alkmaar expanded after 2 more incidents

A fifth street has been added to the safety risk area in Alkmaar. It concerns the Baansingel. There was an explosion at a house there on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. There will also be an additional security camera.

Mayor Anja Schouten wrote this in a letter to the council. She writes that the measures will apply for at least a month. The residents of the street and surrounding area are invited to the information evening that will take place tomorrow evening.

An attempt at an explosion was also attempted last night in another part of the city, in Lekstraat. “I have already taken measures in and around the street. The police are of course investigating this incident,” the mayor wrote.

More streets

Yesterday, that street and three other streets were already designated as a safety risk area after several explosions at homes and business premises. Within such an area, people on the street can be preventively searched. Furthermore, this measure will apply until the end of February for the streets Mesdaglaan, Olieslagerstraat and Ruusbroechof.
