Italy is discussing the fatal scene of Mats Hummels

Mats Hummels’ dismissal against Athletic Bilbao triggers controversial discussions in Italy. While some media blame the German defense lawyer for the departure of the AS Rome from the Europa League, others see the mistake elsewhere.
With an emergency brake in the eleventh minute, Mats Hummels sealed the AS Rome in the Europa League (1: 3). With his risky tackling, the central defender indebted the early red card after his own wrong pass and left his team out more against Athletic Bilbao. But not everyone sees the blame for the German alone.
Several Italian media criticize the decision of the French referee Clément Turpin. The “Corriere Dello Sport” writes, for example, “is never red for Hummels”. However, others clearly see the mistake in German.
“Tuttosport”: “Drastic and very controversial decision by the game manager, who immediately endangers the qualification of the Roma,” writes the Italian portal during the game.
The “Gazzetta Dello Sport” Just titles: “Hummels unforgivable”.
“Corriere Dello Sport”: “Hummels makes an elementary mistake, then commits a very dangerous foul that was not red. But a player like him must not allow such mistakes.” The sports newspaper later commented on the scene: “Athletic Bilbao against Roma, that’s a euro shame”.

“La Stampa”: “The Roma had to cope with the red card for Hummels in the 11th minute and failed to defend the first leg victory against Athletic Bilbao.”
“Corriere della sera”: “The recklessness of Hummels and the inconsistency of Dovbyk brought the Roma down in the San Mames against Athletic Bilbao, which continues to dream of the Europa League final in his own stadium. The German defender, who has already won everything in his career, was referred to the field after 12 minutes because of a blatant double mistake in the field.”
