The Black and Yellows are currently plagued by personnel problems. But one case poses a mystery – and is said to have led to a moment of shock last week.

As if Borussia Dortmund didn’t have enough personnel problems at the moment: defender Ramy Bensebaini will be missing next matchday due to a yellow card suspension, and BVB will not be able to rely on top performer Niklas Süle (torn syndesmotic ligament) in the long term, and Julian Brandt (muscular problems) and Waldemar Anton (torn muscle fiber) were also missing recently.

But now the black and yellow’s misery is made even worse – by a moment of shock for a regular player. The “Bild” reported on Monday afternoon: Right-back Julian Ryerson could also be missing for the time being – the Norwegian was not in BVB coach Nuri Şahin’s squad last Saturday due to circulatory problems.

However, these are probably more serious than expected: The “Bild” continues to write that Ryerson collapsed in the stadium catacombs last week during half-time of the Champions League game against FC Barcelona (2:3) and then collapsed have to lie flat. The 27-year-old stayed out for the second half of the game.

After the end of the game, Ryerson was driven to the hospital with blue lights flashing. However, a cause for the collapse has not yet been determined. Neurological and cardiological examinations should now follow in order to rule out the nervous system and heart as triggers. An appearance in the last game of the year against VfL Wolfsburg next Sunday is unlikely.

Ryerson is actually used as a right-back and has already appeared in 18 competitive games for Dortmund this season, scoring one goal and assisting another goal.
