Russian state television host: “Withdrawal from Kherson could be a trap to lure NATO troops” | War Ukraine and Russia

During a debate on Russian state television, host Tigran Keosayan said the Russians’ withdrawal from the southern Ukrainian port city of Kherson may be a trap. It could be part of “a secret plan to lure NATO troops into Ukraine and then destroy them,” Keosayan said. Russian forces gave up fighting in Kherson last week, after which the Ukrainian army moved back into the city.

“I hope it’s a secret plan to lure them[the NATO troops, ed.],” Keosayan said during a debate on Russian state television on Saturday. “Remember, we talked about it last week. You said it’s most likely a trap, but now I’m talking about a global trap,” he said.

LOOK. Last week, the Ukrainian army entered the port city of Kherson:

“Destroy all troops”

“Right now we are showing that we cannot defend ourselves against NATO forces (…). They will cross the borders of Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic and invade Ukraine. Then we can destroy them all,” the Russian continued. “With FABs (heavy bombs, ed.) and napalm. Terrified they will run away. I have no other plan,” Keosayan said with a laugh. “It’s sad, honestly. Sad because it doesn’t match the rhetoric that’s perpetuated in society as opposed to the real state of things.”

The withdrawal of the Russians from Kherson is a heavy defeat for Russian President Vladimir Putin. The military losses also cause frustration among his followers. Similarly, notorious Russian TV host Vladimir Solovyov expressed his displeasure at the withdrawal during a radio interview last weekend. “I have been yelling since February that we must attack the bridges, destroy infrastructure and supply roads,” he said hostilely.

Several western countries have previously emphasized that no NATO troops will be sent to Ukraine. Instead, they continue to provide the country with financial resources and military equipment.
