Russia wants to host Olympic Games again

The Olympic Games have already taken place in Russia twice – once the summer games, once the winter games. It should not remain according to the country’s plans.
Russia would like to apply for the Olympic Games again. This emerges from an interview by Mikhail Degtyarew (Russian Sports Minister) with the Russian news agency TASS.
“Of course we will continue to apply in the future and align the games at the highest level, we have already proven twice. Sooner or later we will restore all relationships, prepare all routes for the Olympic Games and, I’m sure, we will apply for the winter and for summer games,” said the sports minister.
Russia would be hosting the games for the third time. In 1980 the summer games took place in Moscow, in 2014 the winter games in Sochi.
According to Degtyarew, Russia is the “most hospitable” organizer and also demonstrated at the 2018 World Cup, which Russia is for an enthusiastic country. Since the beginning of the Russian war of attack in Ukraine in February 2022, Russian athletes have been excluded from all major events.
The sports minister has a clear opinion. “What teach us the Olympic Games? There should be no boycotte. The Olympic movement should combine. This is discrimination against our athletes for national reasons.”
The next summer games will take place in Los Angeles (USA, 2028) and Brisbane (Australia, 2032), the winter games in Milan and Cortina (Italy, 2026) and in the French Alps (2030). The venues have not yet been determined from the winter games 2034.
