The Rundedal at Barger-Compascuum is in the picture as a large-scale business park for defense-related industry. Defense, the government and the province are raising together to explore this possibility.
The Rundedal is located east of the horticultural area near Klazienaveen. A small part is used as a solar agent. The total site covers around 150 hectares and, according to the province, has many advantages with regard to the devised destination: right next to the adjacent A37, the present utilities and in the future connection to hydrogen (GZI Next) and the Lower Saxon line.
A few years ago, the municipality announced that it saw a future for the Rundedal as a supra -regional industrial estate. According to the municipality, a large number of national and international companies are looking for extensive production locations.
Guido Rink (PvdA), Alderman for Economy of the municipality of Emmen, therefore responds positively to the intention. “With the Rundedal, we have a piece of land that is extremely suitable for large -scale, defense -related industry. This is a flat plot directly on the A37, logistics easily accessible, without having to give way,” Rink emphasizes the suitability of the location. “So in principle you can do a lot with that.”
Although it is still a coffee grounds to see whether the plan actually passes, Rink emphasizes that Rundedal is one of the largest locations of its kind within the Netherlands. “The empire knows about this place. We have previously sat here with them at the table about large -scale business locations in this area.” Rink also points to the strong manufacturing industry in the region, just like relevant courses that fit well with the possible needs of potential newcomers.
