Owner Cees Schumaker (85) had plans for camper pitches and later for an apartment hotel, but the permit has now been withdrawn at his request.
After the youth hotel located between Den Burg and the Koog in 1977, it was more than four hectare plot for a long time. On the overgrown plot, only the house of Owner Schumaker himself, which has been under construction for forty years.
Furthermore, the 65 so -called ‘ghost sleeping places’ were still located on the ground of Schumaker. Those are not physical sleeping places – because the hotel has burned down – but sleeping places on paper.
These are sought after places, since the municipality of Texel has been on the maximum number of beds of 47,000 places for a long time. Many a holiday park or landlord would like to have those sleeping places.
Two years ago he came up with a plan to realize camper pitches on the site on Pontweg.
